PERI Monolithic Construction

A smarter way to build mass housing — in-situ, at scale, with real support.

Monolithic construction refers to the process of casting an entire structural element or multiple elements in a single continuous pour using a mould or formwork system. The word monolithic is derived from the Greek mono (one) and lithos (stone), reflecting the technique’s core principle: producing a structure that is formed as one solid, seamless unit without joints or layered assembly.

Unlike conventional methods that rely on assembling components brick by brick or floor by floor, monolithic construction allows for walls, slabs, beams, columns, and even staircases to be poured together. This reduces construction time, improves structural integrity, and eliminates many of the weak points associated with traditional joinery. The method is widely used in housing developments, school blocks, infrastructure projects, and other applications where speed, consistency, and long-term durability are critical.

PERI Monolithic, produced by SNTO, is a state-of-the-art aluminium formwork system designed to optimize efficiency, precision, and safety. With its innovative panel design and flat tie system, it redefines speed and simplicity in construction, setting a new benchmark for modern building solutions.

PERI Monolithic Solution

The value of the PERI Monolithic system lies in its ability to simplify construction while improving control, quality, and turnaround. It is designed for environments where repetition, reliability, and delivery speed are critical.

Why It's Made for Mass Housing

Monolithic construction excels where repetition matters.

Whether you're delivering 200 housing units or multiple school blocks, the system allows for:

  • Standardised quality across units

  • Fewer trades required on site

  • Lower risk of delay from overlapping sequences

  • One formwork set reused across many cycles

Everything is planned, labelled, and fitted to your project

Project Highlights

  • Monolithic Construction In South Africa
Student Housing – South Africa A leading university recently expanded its student accommodation capacity by over 1 800 beds using a monolithic construction approach. The system enabled the casting of walls, slabs, beams, and staircases in sequence — reducing build time, rework, and trade overlap. Application: Multi-storey student residences Result: Faster cycle times, reduced remedial work, improved consistency between units
