Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Total land size of approximately 1 Hectares in the heart of Sandton's densely populated, ultra high income residential Benmore suburb. Close proximity to South Africa's "golden mile", the Sandton City district.

Obtained rights to build 70 000m² above ground

Current development 111 000m² and possibly 15 000m ² additional

Development is in line with the Acsion's vision of sectoral diversification into residential and mixed-use property developments.

Phase 1 - Parking: 55 000m²

Phase 2 - Residential/Retail: 67 000m²


The entire project consist of 5 basements and 21 floors above ground with a total slab area of 144 000m².

PERI being tasked to supply a fast & safe formwork solution.

Each floor is approximately 3 700 m² and PERI supplied about 4 000 m² of slab formwork which consists of:

  • PERI Edge Slab Tables
  • PERI MULTIFLEX supported on QUICKSHORE for the transfer beams

For the typical slabs above the transfer level, the contractor demanded a solution that not only improved safety, specifically at the edge but accelerated the turnaround process and reduced the actual labour requirements. By utilizing edge tables, the manual forming process on the slab edge is virtually eliminated, reducing the risk of operatives falling. The PERIpheral edge tables created a safe enclosed working area for the PERI SKYDECK, which resulted in almost no manual erection closer than 3 metres from the edge.

For Mid-rise buildings, PERIpheral edge tables surrounding the slab formwork is the most cost effective and safest solution currently available, this solution is practical for both flat slab and edge downstand beams, regardless of the configuration. With increased safety at the edge, a faster turnaround to the slab forming process is an added benefit. For the curved slab edge, trapezoidal shaped tables with infilling were designed to form this challenge.

With repetitive floor plan and large open-faced facade, the PERI edge tables are a logical choice. The table head allows the props to quickly pivot and negotiate upstands or slab guard rails during transportation and to automatically lock into position when being raised by the crane to the next level. PERI's formwork designers prepared detailed table flying sequences to make this process more efficient & safe.
