Nordhavnsvej Tunnel, Denmark
Copenhagen,
Denmark
- 620 m long tunnel with two rectangular tubes each with two lanes
- constructed using cut-and-cover, semi-monolithic method (bottom slab, walls and slab one after the other)
- architecturally attractive tunnel entrances

The Project
Impressions from the project process
The formwork carriage has been designed so that trucks can pass through at any time without obstacles. Due to the cramped site conditions, an absolutely essential requirement for the execution.
The slab formwork carriage for the Nordhavnsvej tunnel project consists almost entirely of system components from the Variokit engineering construction kit – and is therefore extremely cost-effective.
Everything from one source: PERI has provided a comprehensive solution. Through the mounted Alu 75 site staircase and Prokit EP 110 side protection, safe conditions have also been created for the construction team when using the access points as well as carrying out slab formwork activities.
The formwork carriage can be raised and lowered by means of the integrated hydraulic system – this results in fast and convenient shuttering and striking. After a short induction phase, the construction team requires only one day to set up the carriage for concreting operations.
The walls of the tunnel entrances are characterized by their special shape. These areas were formed using project-specific girder wall formwork which included GT 24 formwork girders with special lengths.
The new 620 m long Nordhavensvej tunnel is being realized using the cut-and-cover method. The walls are concreted against the up to 25 m deep bore pile wall. Following this, the 80 cm slab is concreted by means of a Variokit slab formwork carriage.
A number of technical buildings are required on the tunnel structure. The requirements include 15° inclined walls, rounded corner areas and a specific tie arrangement which have been met through the use of a customized formwork solution with Vario GT 24 girder wall formwork.
