The Project
Impressions from the project process
PERI engineers from Greece and Germany worked closely together to develop the shoring solution for the canopy of the new cultural centre – a magic carpet that appears to float just above the building. Solar modules supply the building with "green" energy.
The man-made hill with its steadily rising gradient forms an alignment with the building´s roofs. The additional canopy with an area of 10,000 m² is positioned on very thin steel columns up to 12 m over the actual building roof.
The walls which separate the artificial hill from the rest of the park are up to 32 m high. The required high architectural concrete quality has been easily achieved using the VARIO Wall Formwork with the formlining sheets screwed on at the rear.
At larger heights, CB climbing brackets serves as platforms systems for the wall formwork. In order to fulfil the architectural concrete requirements, a special anchoring solution has been used.
In addition to the project-specific planning, the PERI solution included a comprehensive logistics concept and on-going site supervision in order to provide the immense amounts of materials on a just-in-time basis in accordance with requirements.
The shoring is positioned on floating supports to ensure seismic safety during construction. For load distribution, the planning concept uses rentable steel components from the PERI product range.
The PERI UP Modular Scaffold is extremely flexible due to its metric grid dimensions of 25 cm or 50 cm. Each leg is positioned to exactly match the geometry and to accommodate the loads to be transferred.

Site Manager
We are extremely satisfied with the PERI systems as well as the comprehensive service – in particular, with the competent application engineering, logistics and the on-site project support. In the process, PERI has helped us to successfully realize this challenging project. Especially the PERI UP modular scaffold with its high degree of flexibility and lightweight components which could be optimally adapted to suit the complex geometry. PERI UP has supported us throughout all construction phases by guaranteeing fast working operations along with providing a high level of safety and efficiency.
