The works of the Vallirana Bypass, 2400 m long, include a tunnel with two tubes, one for each direction of traffic, 1400 m long each.

The standard section of the trunk is two carriageways of 7.00 m each separated by a median of variable width up to 3 m, an outer shoulder of 2.50 m and an inner shoulder of 1.00 m and berms of 1.00 m when appropriate.

The standard section adopted in the tunnels is, for each one, a two-lane carriageway of 3.50 m, a right shoulder of 1.00 m, a left shoulder of 0.50 m and two adjacent pavements of 0.75 m wide.

In addition, it includes two junctions: Vallirana West junction connecting with the CN-340 on the Tarragona side and Vallirana East junction connecting with the "Cervelló Bypass", on the Barcelona side.

This action will offer an alternative route to the more than 18,000 vehicles that on average circulate daily along the crossing of the N-340 road in Vallirana.

Requirements

In order to finish the tunnels in the required time, 2 sets of formwork of 12.10 meters in length of complete formwork and 1 trolley for service of the two formworks that are positioned in the tunnels in alternate positions of the same tube are supplied.

The planned rate of work was 24 ml of concrete each day.

Solutions

Three emergency galleries have been arranged that connect both tunnels and are approximately 300 m apart from each other. In the same way, the corresponding installations of lighting, ventilation, S.O.S. poles and public address, access control and gauge, traffic gauging, electricity, closed circuit television, and fire protection are contemplated.

Supply of 2 sets of special tunnel formwork and 1 trolley to service the two forms. Supply of external formwork for a cut-and-cover tunnel, as a complement to the internal formwork for the construction of the mouthpieces at the south entrance (Tarragona direction)

Median passages have been arranged next to each of the tunnel entrances to enable diversions in case of accidents or for maintenance work.
